Highfield Level 3 Award in Education and Training (EATs)
EATs is an RQF qualification (RQF stands for Regulated Qualifications Framework) which replaced the Highfield Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification.

Who is the qualification for?
Individuals who would like to or already have been working in the teaching sector (including Further Education college, for Independent Training Providers or Local Authorities), but have not got a formal qualification or knowledge.
Individuals currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching.
What are you going to learn?
The course provides you with an opportunity to explore and learn about how to put a session plan together, how to plan and deliver a session that allows you not only achieve the learning outcomes but meet your learners’ needs. We will also explore how to engage and motivate learners, increasing their satisfaction and achievement in your classroom. You will have an opportunity to look at a variety of teaching resources, activities and assessment methods, trying out some of them with your peers.
How are you going to learn?
As our Awarding Organisation (Highfield) provides very interactive resources; we will take you through an interactive power point presentation, topped up with a range of activities, encouraging you to discover things for yourself, discuss and exchange them with your peers, building on what you all already know. We value every individual contribution resulting from individual life experiences, knowledge and skills that our learners can bring into our session and make it more interesting and practical.
How are you going to be assessed?
There is no formal exam, however, you will be putting together a portfolio of evidence. A range of tasks that you will need to complete, will give you the confidence to apply in practice things that you have learnt during the course.
You will also complete a micro teach session in front of your peers, putting a session plan together and delivering a short (about 20 minutes). In addition, you will be observing your peers’ micro teaches, providing them with your valuable and supportive feedback.
At every stage of your assessment you are going to receive as much support and encouragement as you need to make you feel confident.
How long does it take to complete the award?
A lot depends on you! 3 days of classroom activities, plus, one day of micro teach sessions, and lots of support from our teacher will provide you with the solid base necessary to complete all the tasks required. Once the portfolio has been signed off (including evidence of your micro teach), we apply for your certification.

Who is this qualification for?
This qualification provides a good basis to help learners get a ‘foot first’ into training. It is mainly aimed at those who will use pre-prepared training materials to effectively deliver training within the workplace, as opposed to a professional training qualification (such as education and training), which is more focused on procedures, protocol and regulatory requirements.
It is a practical qualification suitable for new and experienced trainers (external and internal) who wish to improve their classroom skills and obtain a training qualification that will also enable them to deliver regulated qualifications.
How long will it take?
The total qualification time (TQT) for this qualification is 19 hours and of this 16 are recommended as guided learning hours (GLH).
The focus of this qualification is on the effective delivery of training, allowing learners to develop planning, preparation and delivery skills, including delivery methods, questioning techniques and time management.
This qualification is assessed by a practical assessment and a self-evaluation report. Learners will need to practically demonstrate the delivery of either 1 or 2 micro-teaching sessions totalling 20 to 30 minutes.
