HABC Level 2 Award in Underage Sales Prevention (QCF)

This accredited qualification is ideal for anyone working in a variety of roles relating to retail or in licensed premises. It provides information on legislation relating to age-restricted products and how to prevent the unlawful sale of age-restricted products such as alcohol, knives, aerosols, lottery tickets, cigarettes, tobacco and tobacco products, and fireworks. Subjects covered include underage sales prevention for retail and licensed premises, prevention of unlawful sales of age-restricted products and legislation.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?

This qualification is usually achieved by taking a one-day course.

How is the qualification assessed?

It is assessed through a 15-question multiple-choice examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes. Candidates must achieve a score of at least 10 in order to pass.

What next?

Individuals achieving this qualification will be able to progress to further learning areas including:

• HABC Level 3 Certificate in Retail Knowledge (QCF)

 

HABC Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (QCF)

This accredited qualification is ideal for those working in or preparing to work in any industry that involves the retail sale of alcohol. It is a requirement for anyone who wishes to hold a personal licence. This qualification covers the main requirements of the Licensing Act 2003 and the legal responsibilities of a personal licence holder. Anyone wishing to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol by retail on licensed premises must hold a personal licence. Subjects covered include purpose and period of validity of a personal licence, the application process and legal duties of a personal licence and licensing law.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?

This qualification is usually achieved by taking a one-day course.

How is the qualification assessed?

It is assessed through a one-hour, 40-question multiple-choice examination. Candidates must achieve a score of at least 28 in order to pass.

What next?

Individuals achieving this qualification will be able to progress to further learning areas including:
• Level 2/3 Award for Designated Premises Supervisors
• Hospitality competency-based qualifications (NVQs/Apprenticeships).

 

HABC Level 3 Award in Effective Auditing and Inspection Skills

The qualification is intended for use by persons who are or who may be involved in practical auditing or inspection of food premises, including internal or 3rd party auditors, enforcement officers and persons responsible for verifying HACCP, with the main emphasis of the qualification being on practical inspection and audit skills in the workplace.

The Level 3 Award in Effective Auditing and Inspection Skills is a qualification aimed at supervisors, team leaders and line managers working in all sectors of the food industry, consumer products, hospitals and other industries where verification, auditing or inspection is undertaken. Learners who gain this qualification will know and be able to apply the knowledge relating to the role of the auditor in carrying out effective audits or inspections: including the purpose of audits/inspections, benefits and limitations, the auditing/inspection cycle, check lists, data gathering, analysis and interpretation and reports.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?

This qualification is usually achieved by taking a one-and-a-half-day course.

How the qualification is assessed?

This qualification is assessed through a 30-question multiple-choice question examination. The duration of the examination is 1 hour. Successful learners must achieve a score of at least 20 out of 30. Learners will achieve a Merit if they achieve 25 out of 30. Following the assessment, a list of results will be provided to the Centre Contacts stating whether learners have passed or failed. Certificates for successful learners will be dispatched for distribution by the Centre Contacts.
